All exhibits in this class must be in place between 6:30p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st in the Agriculture tent, ready for judging and are to be picked up at 4pm on Monday, September 5th. Entries are accepted on the understanding that the judge may, if he/she wishes, cut a sample of the exhibit. A competitor will be confined to one entry in a section, unless otherwise noted. Two or more persons working a farm in partnership, may make one entry only in a section.

CLASS 601

  1. Potatoes - 5 -Red, named, washed but not scrubbed

  2. Potatoes - 5 -White or yellow, named, washed but not scrubbed

  3. Carrots for table use -5 -tops trimmed ½" - Leave on tap root

  4. Beets, round for table use - 5 -tops trimmed ½" - Leave on tap root

  5. Mature Onions - 5 - white - Trimmed but not peeled, jagged, Dirty outer scales removed

  6. Mature Onions - 5 - Red - Trimmed but not peeled, jagged, dirty outer scales removed

  7. Onions - Large Spanish type - 3 - Trimmed but not peeled, jagged, dirty outer scales removed

  8. Pickling onions - 1 litre

  9. Parsnips - 3 - Tops trimmed to approx. 1 inch - Leave on tap root

  10. Cabbage - 1 red or white

  11. Tomatoes -Red - 5 - Any variety, calyx preferably left attached

  12. Tomatoes - Green - 5 - Any variety, calyx preferably left attached

  13. Cherry tomatoes -1 truss - Variety named

  14. Tomatoes - Heirloom - 3 - Variety named, calyx preferably left attached

  15. Collection of tomatoes - 2 each, minimum of 3 varieties, named

  16. Eggplant - 2 - Ripe with stem

  17. Zucchini - 3 green or yellow.  No longer than 8", stem trimmed and attached

  18. Summer squash - 2 - Any variety - Must be named

  19. Winter  squash - 1 - Any variety - Must be named

  20. Pumpkin - Pie type - 1

  21. Cucumbers -3 -Any variety for table use - 6 inch and overlength with short stem on

  22. Cucumbers - 5 - Small pickling variety - Short stem on

  23. Cucumbers -3 - Large, ripe

  24. Collection of fresh herbs - In water - Must be named

  25. Peppers -3 -Red sweet

  26. Peppers -5 - Hot any variety

  27. Garlic -3 bulbs any variety - Unpeeled, roots trimmed, named

  28. Edible corn - 3 cobs, name - 1/3 husk and silk removed from top down

  29. Any other vegetable - 1 named e.g. turnip, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower

  30. "Do you see what I see?" - A vegetable that looks like something else. Please name what you think it looks like.

Best scarecrow for use in the garden.  No over 7' tall
